In the last 48 hours an isolated incident at Environ Limited has seen unplanned odorous emissions escape from one of our vessels.
The local emergency services from the Police and Fire Service attended site to support and assist us with this minor incident and we have reported it to the appropriate agencies including the Environment Agency, Health & Safety Executive and Public Health England.
The emergency services have confirmed to us this morning that the incident is now resolved and the case is now closed. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has deemed the site to be safe, but they advise that if the smell is a nuisance, then close your windows. Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service has handed the site back to us and businesses on the estate are operating as normal.
We apologise to residents and businesses who have been affected by the incident.
The emissions were from vessels that are used in the generation of renewable power and these are a low odour threshold air which the Fire Service has confirmed are a negligible risk and not at dangerous levels.
We are in the process of conducting our internal investigations which will take a period of time together and we continue to cooperate with the external agencies collating the necessary information.
This is an isolated incident and we apologise again for any inconvenience caused.
Environ was formed in 2007 specialising in the cleaning of Landfill gas using Activated and Impregnated Carbon.
The unique concept of utilising mobile vessel technology coupled with dewatering systems and an in-depth knowledge of the technical issues associated with operating gas fuelled engines enabled Environ to quickly become the market leader in this field.
As a consequence of the rapid growth in the company, an in-house manufacturing facility was formed. This coupled with a design and technical team facilitated the diversification into the power generation sector, primarily associated with the integration of ORC technology into waste heat applications and the development of other innovative technologies such as Leachate evaporation equipment; culminating in the successful development of poultry litter and RDF Combined heat and Power systems.
Environ has now emerged as one of the leading companies in the UK delivering renewable solutions in a range of diverse market sectors. The company ethos is developing and delivering innovative concepts from the enquiry stage, working through a full Turnkey offer and professionally delivering the full project on a Principle Contractor basis.
